HIRE SKILLED WORKERS
FOR THE WORK YOU NEED
The Day Labor Center has established an Alameda County-sponsored community "Health Portal" with our partners, St. Rose Hospital (Hayward), Davis Street Primary Care (San Leandro), Samuel Merritt University, and California State East Bay Pre-Professional Health Academic Program students. We work closely with the Alameda County Public Health Department and receive training about heat exhaustion, dehydration, lead poisoning, tuberculosis, and a number of other topics. Both the Soccer and Garden Programs were established as part of the mental and physical health promotion of our Health Program. The Day Labor Center is working with the County to share information about the health trends in our worker population. Our Health Program includes regularly referring workers to local clinics to provide our workers with access to basic primary healthcare. The Alameda County Healthcare for the Homeless Van comes to the Day Labor Center once a month. This gives our workers access to a doctor on site to diagnose illnesses and prescribe medicine. Tri-City Health Center (Fremont) provides our workers and staff with on-going health trainings. A very exciting addition to our Health Program is provided by Onsite Health (San Carlos), a dental van that provides dental care to our workers for three (3) months out of the year. Workers receive cleanings, fillings, crowns, and other services free of charge.
